India and Cuba explore ways to increase natural medicine usage

India and Cuba have decided to collaborate and cooperate to strengthen their bonds, this time through increasing the usage of natural medicine.

Natural medicines such as homeopathy, ayurveda, and unani are the traditional methods for curing various diseases. It is also less expensive. The only downside is that not many people know how the natural medicine works, and this is reason why it is not popular.

India-Cuba deliberations on natural medicine
According a statement from Cuban embassy in Delhi, Concepcion Campa, director of the Finlay Institute in Havana, met scientists and researchers from the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), the Ayurvedic Center and The Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH).

She was here on the invitation of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) of the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Both the sides explored ways of expanding cooperation in the field of natural medicine.

Cuban News Agency reports that she also referred to Cuba’s immunization Program which has reduced infant mortality rate 4.5 per one thousand births.

Also, in her interactive meeting with biotech entrepreneurs, Campa spoke about Cuba’s achievements in the field of vaccines. These vaccines are mostly produced by the Finlay institute.

Over five decades, the U.S. and Cuba have been bugging each other. Campa also voiced Cuba’s difficulties in biotechnology due to pig-headed approach of the United States.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India organized the meeting.
